With a nearly 170-year history and recognized as the largest hospital complex in Brazil's North-Northeast region, Real Hospital Português (RHP) is a benchmark for excellence and innovation in healthcare. Located in Recife, RHP operates a vast facility featuring 850 beds, serving over 15,000 people and performing 2,000 surgeries each month with a team of more than 10,000 professionals. The hospital stands out for its use of advanced technology, such as robotic surgery and artificial intelligence for imaging exams, reaffirming its commitment to technical excellence and compassionate care.
To strengthen its cybersecurity and optimize its technology environment, Real Hospital Português (RHP) partnered with Teletex, implementing Project SINAPSE. The collaboration enhanced RHP's SOC (Security Operations Center), ensuring continuous 24x7 monitoring and efficient incident response. Using the Teletex CyberCare platform, RHP integrated its security solutions, improving environment visibility and the resilience of its IT infrastructure. This partnership has resulted in an exponential increase in the hospital's digital security maturity.
With the implementation of Project SINAPSE, Real Hospital Português (RHP) reinforced its SOC (Security Operations Center) through the partnership with Teletex. This enhancement brought continuous 24x7 monitoring and complete environment visibility, resulting in a quicker and more efficient incident response. This improvement allowed the healthcare institution, which relies on over 10,000 professionals, including doctors and nurses, to realize gains in cybersecurity performance. Bartolomeu Martins, RHP’s Infrastructure Manager, highlighted that features such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), identity verification, and device posture analysis made the digital environment far more protected.
The partnership between RHP and Teletex included the adoption of an integrated security architecture, based on the Teletex CyberCare platform and the SafeX methodology. This approach provided deeper levels of visibility, improved application performance, generated network insights, and enhanced security posture analysis. The implementation helped the hospital reduce tool sprawl and more proactively manage both business operations and the patient journey. Shenandoan Daur, RHP's CIO, affirmed that since the implementation, the hospital's digital security maturity level has increased exponentially.
The partnership with Teletex was not limited solely to infrastructure security. Project SINAPSE also focused on the users’ digital experience. The implemented solutions, such as advanced Managed Security Services (MSS) and SOC, help the hospital more proactively manage the patient journey. By ensuring a contextualized view of the data, the project identifies opportunities for improvement and optimizes service performance, ensuring that excellence in protection and observability aligns with the compassionate care for which the hospital is known.
The collaboration between Real Hospital Português and Teletex generated significant results, acknowledged by the hospital's own team. Bartolomeu Martins, RHP's Infrastructure Manager, pointed out that features such as multi-factor authentication and device posture analysis provided far greater protection for the institution’s digital environment. In turn, Shenandoan Daur, RHP's CIO, emphasized the partnership's benefits, stating that "the resulting benefits of reduced risks and improved IT infrastructure resilience are immeasurable." He added that Teletex's services, combined with solutions from established vendors, help the hospital proactively manage business operations and the patient journey.
